Lenovo and Xiaomi are both known for low and mid-range phones. People are familiar with the name Lenovo but Xiaomi sounds alien to many of them. This is a major factor which influences the decision when buying the phone. Xiaomi Redmi 4 is a major competition to Lenovo K6, and you should definitely give it a look.
Design and Display:
Lenovo K6 is a toned-down version of Lenovo K6 Power. It comes with a metallic body of 5 inches’ display. Lenovo K6 has the dimensions of 141.9 x 70.3 x 8.2 mm and weighs 140 grams. It is available in three colours silver, dark grey and gold.
Lenovo K6 has a better display than Xiaomi Redmi 4 and comes with a Full High Definition (FHD) display of 5 inches. It has the screen resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. Lenovo K6 also offers high pixel density of 441PPI which is good for this budget. More pixels mean better display. It comes with an IPS LCD display type.
Xiaomi Redmi 4 is a low-budget phone with a metallic body. It sports 5 inches display and measures almost similar to Lenovo K6 with the dimensions of 141.30 x 69.60 x 8.90 mm. It is slightly heavier than Lenovo K6 and weighs 156 grams. It also comes in three colours- gold, silver and dark grey. Both the devices are not splash proof.
Lenovo K6 comes with a High definition display of 720 *1280 pixels. This device is not full HD. The display type is same as that of Lenovo K6 and uses IPS LCD display. The pixel quality is very less with a pixel density of 294ppi. Both the devices lack any scratch resistant protection.
About the appearance, there is no branding on front side for either of the phone. Both the devices lack a physical home button and come with three capacitive keys with back key on the right side. Lenovo K6 sports an 8 MP front camera whereas Xiaomi Redmi 4 sports a 5 MP front camera. Both the devices lack front flash. They both have similar controls as well with power and volume buttons on the right side of the device. The left side of the device has SIM slot. In Lenovo K6, the left has a normal dual SIM tray and SD card tray on the left side whereas in Xiaomi Redmi 4 there is a hybrid SIM slot on the left side. They both support 3.5mm jack and uses microUSB port.
Flipping the devices, the back cover is non-removable and so is the battery. There is a 13 MP primary camera at the back of both the devices. In Lenovo K6, there is a normal LED flash whereas in Xiaomi Redmi 4 there is a dual colour LED flash. Both the devices come with a fingerprint sensor which lies at the back of the device.
Performance wise they are both similar. They both are powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 chipset and use 2 GB RAM. Lenovo K6 runs Octa core 1.2 GHz processor whereas Xiaomi Redmi 4 runs on 1.4 GHz octa-core processor. Handling the graphics load is on Adreno 505 GPU for both the devices.
None of the devices run on the latest Android Nougat out of the box. Lenovo K6 runs on Android Marshmallow (Android 6.0.1) out of the box. It also has its own VIBE UI on top. Xiaomi Redmi 4 also runs on Android marshmallow 6.0. It has its own MIUI8 on top. There is no app drawer in either of the phone.
Camera and Storage:
Both the phones have similar rear camera configurations of 13MP and come with features like Auto Focus, Face Detection, HDR, Panorama Mode, Geo-tagging. Both the devices have the aperture of 2.2 F and image resolution of 4128 x 3096 Pixels. They support video recording at 1920×1080 @ 30 fps and 1280×720 @ 120 fps. 4K video and optical image stabilization is missing in both the devices.
Lenovo K6 has a better selfie camera of 8MP whereas Xiaomi Redmi 4 comes with 5MP selfie camera.
In terms of storage, both the devices come with an internal memory of 16 GB which is expandable up to 128 GB. In Xiaomi Redmi 4, the SD card slot is a hybrid slot.
Battery and Connectivity:
Battery wise Xiaomi Redmi 4 is ahead of Lenovo K6. Xiaomi Redmi 4 runs on 4100mah battery which also supports fast charging. Lenovo K6 runs on only 3000 mah battery which lack fast charging. Both of the devices have non-user replaceable battery.
Both the phones support Dual SIM functionality with 4G in both the SIM slots. Xiaomi Redmi 4, though uses a hybrid SIM slot. They both use microUSB 2.0 and lack USB Type C port and NFC.
Both the devices are low budget phones. They have similar performance configuration but Lenovo K6 has better display whereas Xiaomi Redmi 4 has better battery. If battery is your main criteria, then Redmi 4 is a good choice.
